That really depends on your computer. Obviously you want something with as much memory as you can afford. Additionally, look for something with an integrated cooling system, usually a fan or there are even liquid cooled ones out there. Keeping the electronics cooler, will help it work faster. Compare the various Clock speeds for fill rates and such to compare relative speeeds between different cards.
Consider a dual output video card that will allow you to hook up two monitors. I use one here in my office so I can project my work onto the wide screen TV, or you can set it up to run side by side applications.
Make sure whatever you buy is compatible with your operating system and that you have the proper slot on your motherboard. I use an NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT card ( http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_8600.html ). While there are cards out there with more memory, this one works very well for me.
